K’muts diesel thieves caught in the act
Four suspects were arrested by the police on Saturday morning (15 September), when they were caught in the act while allegedly stealing diesel from a transport company’s premises.
Stellenbosch Watch Reaction Officer Chris Koegelenberg was on patrol in the Klapmuts area when he noticed something that raised his suspicion, explains Antoon Van Zyl, CEO of Stellenbosch Watch. The Watch is supported by Fidelity ADT.
“The officer was driving past a transport company’s property and saw what looked like four men walking across the yard. Considering that this was at around 4.45am and the company was closed for business at the time, he immediately stopped to investigate,” says Van Zyl.
When searching the property, the officer managed to locate and apprehend four suspects and saw that they were busy stealing diesel. Klapmuts SAPS were called to the scene, and the suspects were taken into custody on a charge of theft.
