Bohemia is a local pub in Central Stellenbosch. It offers a variety of refreshments and food at very reasonable prices. They are known for their tasty pizzas (especially the iconic bacon avo feta with the delicious Bohemia sauce on the side), chicken strips and the notorious box wines.

• What is unique: They are known for their live music. Jo Martin, a local Stellenbosch “ballie”, takes the stage every Tuesday night. Thursday nights are for local bands and artists’ turn to entertain. Every Sunday is Bingo Night, where you can try your luck at a variety of prizes.

2. THE MEETING PLACE

The Meeting Place is a relatively new addition to the Stellenbosch scene. They offer breakfast, lunch and dinner and a variety of refreshments (incl. beer, wine, bubbly and shooters). It has a very welcoming look, provided by some innovation by a group of locals Side note: The risotto balls are to die for!

• What is unique: They have live music nights on Wednesdays and Fridays, with a mix of bands, artists and DJ’s. Customers can also entertain themselves with some Jenga or a game of 30 Seconds.

3. DE STOMME JONGE

Lovely, intimate vibe with tasty food and a great selection of beer, De Stomme Jonge is a great place to grab a few drinks and enjoy a home cooked meal at an affordable price under the shade of the Stellenbosch oak trees.

4. BARTINNEY WINE AND CHAMPAGNE BAR

Bartinney Wine Farm has a buzzing bar in central Stellenbosch,with sustainably produced, small-lot wines and bubbly. You can enjoy wine-friendly, seasonal nibbles and sharing plates at the bar, settle in on comfortable reclaimed arm chairs, sit out on the terrace, or join wine-lovers spilling out onto Bird Street glass in hand. They also recently added tapas made by the local restaurant, Genki.
