The Festival of White Lights
The Spier Festival of White Lights was a dazzling display of light and artistic performances that left old and young alike, in awe. Before the start of the festival families and friends had a choice of having a dinner the highly rated Eight Restaurant or to have a picnic on the lawn in front of the restaurant with a delicious choice of picnic food and wine available from Eight on the Go. Children laughing and playing on the lawn, couples and families enjoying a picnic as the sun set, all made for an idyllic start to the festival.
The full moon and lit balloons floating on the water, ensured for a magical opening. The procession, led by Spier’s ‘Angel of Light’, winded it’s way through Spier’s heritage Cape Dutch monuments which boast 21 Gables, at the Slave Bell a contemporary dance performance had everyone spellbound. The event closed with a magical performance of fire dancers and the grand finale was setting the glowing balloons drifting off into the night sky. Afterwards wine and other drinks were on offer with a one man band entertaining those, who didn’t want the magic to stop.
