Parel Vallei Band supports Helderberg Nature Reserve
This season, we’re again very grateful to local school bands for their support to the Helderberg Nature Reserve. They will again perform as backup acts at the Sunset Concerts. Always a hit with the audience, it’s also a chance for the youth in our community to showcase their talents.
On 9 December, Parel Vallei High’s Show Band will be the opening act for, Hier Kom Koos. They will perform a full original set—songs written by the learners themselves and produced by their mentor Duncan Combe. This is sure to get you tapping your feet and right in the mood for Koos Kombuis.
Then on 24 February, just before Mike and the Harmonix launch into the Tribute to ABBA, the Parel Vallei Big Band will again get the party off with a bang. This time they will perform a mix of popular big band numbers.
Parel Vallei High School has shown itself to be a leading force in the development of young musicians. The music department has in the region of 250 learners taking music as a subject. The multitude of instruments offered enables a learner to specialise in anything from vocals, to keys, brass, wind, strings and percussion. There is a concentrated effort for the young musician to be part of an ensemble, group or band, and to develop music as a lifetime passion.
Tickets are available from www.Tixsa.co.za , at the Visitors’ Centre of the Helderberg Nature Reserve, or at the gate on the day of the concert for cash.
