One Soweto giant overtakes the other in race for Pule Mmodi
Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates continue to be linked with a move for Bafana Bafana winger Pule Mmodi, who is set to leave Golden Arrows.
Mmodi was the subject of intense interest from both Chiefs and Pirates throughout the past two seasons with both clubs thought to be hot on his heels.
The chase for the signing of Mmodi has been an interesting one before and during the current season. Now with the latest developments, it looks as if it will get even hotter a the end of the season. It was initially Chiefs who were thought to be leading the pursuit ahead of the campaign, with Amakhosi reportedly lining him up on a free. Those plans then hit a snag when Golden Arrows decided to trigger their one-year option on the player’s contract.
That then ensured that any party interested in Mmodi would have to folk out a transfer fee, and that seemed to discourage Chiefs. As the season went by, strong rumours of Pirates coming in to hijack that move then started to surface. Now according to source speaking to Unplayable seem to suggest that the Buccaneers are now back in the lead for the player’s signature.
