Local academy will represent Eldos in national games

According to the founder of BFA, Leroy Smith there was a lack in terms of the number of participants but the league has started and it was made available for schools to part take.

Breakthrough Football Academy (BFA) from EXT 6, Eldorado Park has qualified for provincial selections with the u15 boys and girls.

The u13 division also qualified to compete in the Kay Mostepe League.

The u15 division teams had to compete against other local schools in the Eldos Schools League to qualify.

The u13 team had to win the Southern Gauteng playoffs to qualify for the Kay Motsepe League.

According to the founder of BFA, Leroy Smith there was a lack in terms of the number of participants but the league has started and it was made available for schools to part take.

He said Zerowa Christian Academy came out top with the u15 boys. With the u15 girls it was more of a selection process from different schools with the majority of the learners coming from Zerowa Christian Academy.

The schools’ soccer league accommodates both primary and high schools.

Primary school learners compete on Tuesdays and Thursdays while high schools take centre stage on Fridays.

“We are in the process of bringing back the culture that we once had in our community, where it was extremely competitive and full of fun for our youngsters. It is an important component in developing an individual holistically.

“The natural progression of any athlete has to happen at school level. For us to compete against the rest of the world, we need to have a proper structure and system in place,” Smith detailed.

He said the league will help bring back the level of excellence in football and secondly, the boys will get to play against the best players in the country.

This is because there are players from Clapham, Mamelodi Sundowns Academy and SuperSport United Football Club Development Academy among other best schools in the country, he explained.
