Sizwe Feeding Scheme celebrates a decade
Children and the elderly recently came together to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of Sizwe Feeding Scheme at Mandela Square in Kliptown.
Worship, motivation, music and lots of food and treats for the kids were the order of the day as the local feeding scheme was reflecting on the past ten years of fighting hunger in the community.
Sizwe Feeding Scheme was started in 2013 by Anne Frans and her team of local residents without any sponsorship.
They persevered through difficult times feeding local children using money from their own pockets.
With different sponsors finally coming on board a few years later, the feeding scheme grew and now provides meals for hundreds of children four times a week.
One of the board members of the feeding scheme reflected on the past 10 years and how difficult it was and that the event was to celebrate the triumph they have had as a community of Kliptown.
Speakers took turns and thanked God for Sizwe Feeding Scheme which has become a beacon of hope for the poverty striking community of Kliptown.
