MySchool and Builders build 3 classrooms
MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet and Builders are at it again! Building 3 state-of-the-art Grade RR classrooms for Christel House SA
The MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet and Builders partnership have once again transformed children’s lives (and their communities) by making early learning more accessible for less fortunate children. Their latest investment is three Grade RR classrooms for the non-profit school, Christel House, worth over R1.7 million, which opened on 2 August 2021.
Christel House South Africa is a no-fee school, based in Ottery, Cape Town. Their single mission is to break the cycle of poverty and build self-sufficient, contributing members of society, through a no-fee, Grade RR to Grade 12 and five years post-matric, schooling scholarship. It is one of eight international Christel House schools around the world and key aspects of their model include poverty mitigation services in the form of daily transport to school and back, professional health care, nutritious meals, psychosocial counselling, family assistance and college and careers planning and support. With the shared vision of a brighter future for our youth, MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet and Builders together made the decision to fund this worthy cause.
The three Grade RR classrooms will ensure that over 60 learners aged 4 – 5, hailing from severely impoverished communities on the Cape Flats, receive a high-quality education, wholesome meals and so much more during their educational career. The addition of these new classrooms will also result in the employment of 4 new teachers.
This initiative follows the leading brands 2020 collaboration where MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet and Builders paid funds to build two new classrooms for Zilungisele Primary School in KwaZulu-Natal.
Janet Booysen, Builders Marketing Executive, says their latest work with MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet and Christel House solidifies their shared passion for creating better environments for young learners.
In a time where many are struggling to make ends meet, these new classrooms will have a lasting impact on the futures of young children living on the Cape Flats. Adri Marais from Christel House explains how the new classrooms will benefit the school.
“Christel House turns 20 this year and adding this crucial phase to our Early Childhood Development program has long been a dream for us. We are deeply grateful to MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet and Builders for helping us build three top-quality Grade RR classrooms and putting an additional 60 students per year on a pathway out of poverty. We are so excited to welcome our very first Grade RR students in July and introduce them to their beautiful new classrooms,” says Adri Marais, Chief Executive Officer of Christel House.
“Collaborating with our retail partners like Builders helps us to make further tangible differences in the lives of South Africans in need. We are humbled to be given the opportunity to provide Christel House and its learners with three new classrooms to provide an even younger group of children to start their early learning developments,” says Pieter Twine, General Manager of MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet.
