Bonnievale, Breede River Valley, Western Cape
Bonnievale is situated in the beautiful Breede River Valley just off Route 62 in the Western Cape. This area is also known as the valley of wine and cheeses and for good reason. The town is home to two of the major cheese factories in South Africa, Parmalat and Mooivallei Suiwel. There are a number of top wine estates sandwiched between the dramatic Langeberg Mountains and the Breede River. The area forms part of the Robertson Wine Route and although it is not on the main Route 62, it should not be missed
Apart from tasting the world class wines, there are a number of activities in and around Bonnievale – 4X4 trails, hikes, canoeing, fishing, bird watching and a boat trip up the Breede River on the River Goose.
Visit the Bonnievale Cellar, one of the largest wineries in South Africa, and taste their award winning wines. Enjoy the excellent wines and great dining at Weltevrede Wine Estate.
