Potchefstroom, North West Province
Potchefstroom is a University City in the Southern District of the North West Province on the N12 route from Johannesburg.
Located on the banks of the Mooi (Pretty) River north of the Vaal River and the borders with the Free State and Gauteng, ‘Potch’ as it is affectionately known, is in close proximity to the attractions of the Vaal Triangle, Parys and the Vredefort Dome area of the Northern Free State – just an hours’s drive south.
Attractions in and around Potchefstroom include several good pubs, bars and restaurants – many catering for student pockets and appetites, adventure tour companies that will take you to the Vredefort Dome and other surrounding areas to enjoy the many outdoor adventure opportunities, and outdoor recreational attractions such the Boskop Dam Nature Reserve.
