Makwassie is a small rail stop and farming community in the Makwassie Valley area of the North West Province, near Leeudoringstad and Wolmaransstad, in the middle of a maize farming and cattle ranching area which also supports game farms and hunting lodges and country venues.
The Makwassie district is named for a type of spearmint that grows in the area. The area also has a rich alluvial diamond digging heritage and nearby Wolmaransstad is an International diamond exchange town.
Getting there: Makwassie is 14 km south of Wolmaransstad on the R505.
