Phokeng
Phokeng is the capital of the 29 villages that make up the Royal Bafokeng Nation, located just outside the city of Rustenburg, in the ‘Rustenburg Valley’ in the North West Province of South Africa. Phokeng was founded by the Sotho-Tswane people in 19th century, on land they actually purchased back from the European Colonists, and continued to purchase into the 20th century, originally with the help of the German Missionaries of the Hermannsburg Mission Society.
