Groblersdal, Highveld & Cosmos Region, Mpumalanga

Groblersdal, South Africa

Groblersdal is a rural irrigation settlement 32km and town north of the Loskop Dam on the provincial border between Limpopo and Mpumalanga, and a popular holiday destination thanks to beautiful scenery and some excellent game lodges in the surrounding bushveld, particularly between Groblersdal and nearby Marble Hall, and around the Loskop Dam.

Groblersdal is surrounded by myriad farms producing everything from wheat to table grapes and peanuts, lucerne to cotton. Besides several game farms in the area, the nearby Loskop Dam Nature Reserve is one of the Mpumalanga Highveld’s top attractions, offering excellent game viewing, birding and angling, slipways for watersports and a resort that offers various recreational activities.

Groblersdal is situated in a large man-made flood-plain with ample watersources including the Loskop and Renosterkop Dams, and is therefore very green and lush.  The area is also very scenic and a host of outdoors activities are on offer in the surrounding area, within 25km of Groblersdal. These include offroad trails, hunting, bird-watching, boating, bow hunting, fishing, game viewing, horse trails and hikes and walks. There is also a good golf course in Groblersdal.

Getting there: From Johannesburg take the R25 through Bronkhorspruit. Total travelling time is 2 and half hours.
