JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA – SABC Sports and Metro FM Fresh breakfast show sports anchor Mpho Letsholonyane hosted her 2nd annual Women in Sports talk which was aimed to empower, educate and share knowledge of working in a male-dominated industry.
The Women in Sports session was held in Sandton, Benmore Gardens where Mpho and her guest speakers opened up about working in an industry that is misunderstood and male-dominated. Guest speakers included former Banyana Banyana footballer Amanda Dlamini who brought the room to life as she spoke about her Olympian days and working as a Football Analyst. Her knowledge and experience were truly eye-opening; she spoke of the challenges women face in the industry and was highly appreciated as she showed that it’s doable. Her story to success was one for the books and inspired ladies who attended the session.
“I was nervous and excited for the 2nd Women in Sports session because I wanted it to be bigger and better than the first one. My expectations were hit out of the park and I am truly grateful. I want to thank every single person that attended the event, ladies in sports who came out in numbers, our guest speakers Amanda Dlamini, Mmane Boikanyo from TuskSports and UJ Sports Scientist Minky Tshabalala. Opening up the industry is my goal and I can’t wait to take this event countrywide”- Mpho Letsholonyane.
