Secure South Coast estate encourages comfortable, laidback lifestyle
Health and happiness are intrinsically connected to a sense of safety within one’s surroundings which is why secure living is one of the primary objectives for the developers of Renishaw Hills.
Situated just outside Scottburgh on the enchanting KwaZulu-Natal South Coast, this mature lifestyle development is offering residents a safe haven within the tranquil Mpambanyoni Conservation Development overlooking ocean and forest.
Construction of Phase 2 has already begun at Renishaw Hills, with many of the units already sold as investors learn about the many advantages the development offers, such as the heightened security features throughout.
“We want the residents of Renishaw Hills to fully experience the laidback lifestyle so associated with the South Coast,” said Phillip Barker, managing director of Renishaw Property Developments, a subsidiary of the Crookes Brothers group. “Two of the estate’s biggest drawcards are its outstanding natural beauty and year-round comfortable climate. To really appreciate this relaxed, outdoor life we have installed every necessary security feature in an understated manner.”
To meet this high security level, Renishaw Hills has appointed IDME Consulting for the installation of the electric fencing, access control system and the CCTV perimeter camera solution for the entire estate.
Michelle Kramer, owner and CEO of IDME Consulting, said Renishaw Hills has the benefit of learning from both the mistakes and successes of other high security estates countrywide.
“With the advancement of modern technology, Renishaw Hills has access to the most updated, high-end sophisticated equipment and integration from the outset,” said Kramer. “This, in conjunction with strong management, the correct calibre of staffing and strict operating procedures, enables Renishaw Hills to offer a holistic, proactive security solution to ensure that residents and visitors are safe and secure within the estate.”
The gated estate consists of an electrified, clear-view fence on the surrounds with all entry points manned by a 24-hour security service and constant patrols day and night. Unobtrusive thermal cameras positioned throughout the estate will ensure any unsanctioned activity is quickly halted.
Every unit will be connected to the security personnel via panic buttons with immediate emergency reaction. Onsite security will also be kept up-to-date on any criminal activity in the area by working with a local security consultant.
“We want this to be the safest place to live on the South Coast without residents constantly being made aware of the security,” explained Barker. “It’s a delicate balance but, wherever possible, developers have ensured that all aspects of security will be blended into the natural surroundings. These features will also negate the need for individual home security systems, saving our residents the hassle and cost.”
Developers are working closely with organisations throughout the South Coast to constantly improve safety elements. One such organisation is UGU Tourism South Coast, which has a number of safety initiatives on the go.
“Ugu South Coast Tourism is the only organisation of its kind in KwaZulu-Natal to apply a Sunny and Safe campaign for locals and visitors,” explained Justin Mackrory CEO Ugu South Coast Tourism.
This includes regular interaction with the South African Police Service, local law enforcement agencies and Community Police Forums. The campaign also includes behavioural advisories on local community radio stations, in official publications, promotional posters, at visitor centres, on the internet, public information sessions and via membership.
“Our tourism destination is dedicated towards the overall comfort of all who reside and tour here and this programme is geared towards that objective,” said Mackrory. “We are really seeing vast improvements in the safety of the area because of these efforts.”
