St Michaels On Sea

St. Michaels-on-Sea is a small resort village on the Hibiscus Coast of KwaZulu-Natal about 10 km north of the bustling town of Margate, the nearest large town being Port Shepstone. The village is a very popular holiday destination for families – the beach is pristine and the warm waters great for swimming and surfing. The lagoon at the mouth of the Unhlangeni River has created a great spot for windsurfing and fishing. There are also safe tidal pools for the kids.

The waters are crystal clear and the coral reefs attract exquisite tropical fish – perfect for underwater photography. There is a 9- hole golf course ideal for a quick round at sunset. For the more serious golfer there are numerous first class golf courses within easy driving distance at Margate and Port Shepstone and slightly further afield.

The accommodation in St. Michaels is excellent with luxury and family hotels, B&Bs, lodges and chalets. There are numerous attractions in the area and for nature lovers a visit to Mpenjati Nature Reserve should not be missed.
