Warner Beach, South Coast, KwaZulu-Natal

Warner Beach, South Coast, KwaZulu-NatalWarner Beach is a small resort village on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast near Amanzimtoti. It is sometimes considered a suburb of Kingsburgh. The village is split into two by the railway line with the residential area on the beach side and the shopping area inland. The huge South Coast shopping mall, by the name of Galleria, is a mere 7 km away. Although the village was founded way back in 1910, it has maintained its tranquil character unlike Amanzimtoti.

This is one of the best surfing beaches in South Africa and Warner Beach has produced some of the best surfers in the world. Also known as Baggies Beach by the surfing fraternity, it is the home of the Baggies Beach Pro and  international surfing pro, Frankie Oberholzer.

The surf is also ideal for body surfing, kite surfing and paddle skiing. It is also close to the world-renowned Aliwal Shoal one of the top diving sites in the country. The beach is protected against sharks and there is a tidal pool for the kids.

Like most places on the South Coast it is close to a variety of activities and it is only about 20 minutes from Durban. There are a number of restaurants in the village as well as activities like ten pin bowling and putt-putt. If real golf is your passion, the Amanzimtoti Country Club course is a stones throw away and two of the top courses in the country are within easy driving distance – Selborne and Umdoni Park.
