La Mercy

La Mercy is a quiet village situated about 25 km from the city of Durban well known for the fact that it is the site of the new King Shaka International Airport serving KwaZulu-Natal. It is just south of the bustling town of Ballito and north of Umhlanga. The village has a strong Indian heritage.

Most of the roughly 500 homes line the beach front where peace and quiet reigns. It has a mosque, two temples and two Christian institutions. Although officially part of eThekwini it is more appropriately seen as part of the Dolphin coast because like its neighbour, Umdloti, it is an ideal place to see dolphins and whales.

Its location close to the N2 highway makes all of the shopping malls in Ballito and Umhlanga easily accessible. The huge Gateway mall with everything one could desire for shopping and entertainment is a mere 12 km away and the Sibaya Casino and Entertainment Kingdom is not even 10 minutes away.
