Small film goes International
The Fork in the Road is a brand new short film produced and created by Nightlight Productions. Nightlight has been producing and developing films since 2015 and have participated in numerous local 48 Hour Film Projects in Johannesburg. Majority of there films have also won several awards locally during the festivals.
This November, Nightlight and their team of talented filmmakers made their way to Sunninghill to produce a short film for the International Global 4-Point Film Festival. Their film, The Fork in the Road, is a modern twist to a traditionally Western film which we are used to.
It tells the story of a young modern Western man, Clay Blackwood (Rikus Strauss) that ends up in a small town in the middle of nowhere due to an unexpected event which causes his car to break down. In the town, Clay realizes that this is no ordinary Western Town and the people are any but ordinary themselves. Clay soon discovers the truth behind the mysterious events of Blackwood and aims to put a stop to it and end the madness so that he can return back home.
Nicho Barnard, the Director and Producer of the film and Founder of Nightlight Productions teases that the film promises to provide not just a good story line with intriguing characters, but some humorous elements and some unexpected twists to a Western Story!
Joining Rikus Strauss on screen is Jason Geyer, the funny and comedic actor who shared the screen with Rikus in Nightlight’s previous film – The Defining Moment. The two once again, poses to be a fantastic on-screen team as they bring out a great story with a lot of humor. Making his debut and joining Strauss and Geyer on-screen is actor, Darryn Ogilvie who Barnard teases is the “secret weapon” to the story.
“Darryn plays a very interesting character in the film and as a first-time screen actor, he did a brilliant job bringing the character to life and tying up the storyline. I was extremely impressed with his performance” says Barnard (Film Director).
Joining the crew as well this year was the Executive Producers of Windmill Productions, Evaldi Pretorius and Danielle Bennett. They collaborated with Barnard on this project after Barnard was signed on as a Showrunner for their new upcoming television series DREAMS.
The film will be making it’s way to the 4-Point Film Project Festival and will also be making it’s PREMIERE screening exclusively at the Nightlight Premiere Charity Event on the 24th of November 2018 at Industrial Coffee Works in Centurion. Check out their Facebook Page for more information.
