Allanridge is a small gold mining town in the Goldfields Region of the Free State, just north of Welkom, and the location of the Lorraine Gold Mining Company mine and ore processing plants.
Nearby attractions in Welkom include the Goldfields Casino, the Phakisa Raceway just outside of Welkom, and the Ernst Oppenheimer Theatre – one of the best in SA. Most gold mines in the region also offer tours by appointment, where you can watch gold being poured.
