Chintsa

Cintsa is an unspoilt piece of seaside paradise on the Eastern Cape’s Wild Coast. It is perhaps the quintessential Eastern Cape seaside village on this magnificent stretch of South African coastline. A beautiful stretch of long, perfect beach, one of the Wild Coast’s most spectacular lagoons, captivating coastal sand dunes and lush, indigenous forest – Cintsa is a true piece of coastal paradise.

The town is divided by the lagoon into Cintsa East, to the north, and Cintsa West, to the south. Cintsa East is substantially more developed than Cintsa West, and is home popular seaside resorts and accommodation establishments. Whichever side of the lagoon you find yourself on in Cintsa, you’re bound to enjoy the same magical elements that make this special : the tantalising lure of unspoilt beach and coastline and the tranquility of surrounding coastal forest.

The majority of the accommodation establishments in Cintsa lie in amongst the coastal forest, making for a magical holiday setting with easy access to the beach and lagoon. Laze and play on the beach for the day, explore rock pools or take a relaxing paddle up the river. Whatever you choose, it is guaranteed to leave you feeling refreshed and inspired by this magical place.

Getting there: from East London, take the N2 going towards Umtata. Turn off after approx. 30km onto the road going into Cinsta. The road splits going into Cintsa East and Cintsa West, on either side of the lagoon. Cintsa East is the developed side of town, so it is likely that your accomodation establishment is in Cintsa East.
