Death of Gospel Artist’s Mother a Blessing in Disguise
Life is going on. But when someone you love dearly, someone who is there for you, encouraging and supporting you, suddenly passes away, life will feel like is not going on. That is what gospel artist Mosa Confidence Maake felt when he lost his beloved mother.
Prior to his mother’s passing, Mosa performed with the local church with no ambitions to pursue music professionally. His mother was the one who saw his great talent and encouraged him to take his passion for music seriously. She noticed his huge joy and happiness when performing on stage. And any parent would want their offspring to be happy and fulfilled.
It was her passing that encouraged Mosa to record Ke Lehlogonolo https://youtu.be/oQNPiT3sxCY followed by Jeso https://youtu.be/wGKxdZ9jXEM. Being someone who pretty much grew up in church, inspirational music came naturally to him. Instead of trying to do too much with his music, Mosa combines the traditional gospel elements we are used to with the new modern sounds associated with international inspirational gospel music
My mom meant a lot to me. Her passing took me to hell and back, at one point it felt like my life was over. She was always there for me, my cheerleader. It was while moaning her that it dawned on me that she really believed in me when it comes to music. Recording those first two songs after her passing felt like therapy. The wound hasn’t fully healed, but the music is getting me there bit by bit – Mosa Confidence Maake.
Mosa soon learned that recording and marketing music as an independent artist with a wife and a toddler and with limited resources is not easy. Hence, he opted to use his background in engineering and psychology and formed three striving businesses to create alternative income streams.
Music business requires that we be smart so we can pursue it fully and enjoy its progress. My businesses help me a lot on this journey I have chosen. My kid and my family sleep with a full stomach, and my creativity, my drive, is fuelled daily as I know my family is well taken care of – Mosa Confidence Maake.
He is currently working on his first live music concert and writing a book about his perception of life.
