China-Africa Cooperation Ignites a Beacon of Hope with ‘Shine Your Light’ for the Children of South Africa
In Cape Town, a remarkable event called “Shine Your Light” recently took place, embodying the spirit of hope through a collaborative charity endeavor by the China-Africa Development Fund (CADFund), Hisense Group, and Mozambique Wanbao Agricultural Park.
The event witnessed the presence of esteemed guests, including Mr. You Wenze, Consul General of China to Cape Town, Mr. Shen Bo, Councilor of Cape Town, Allister Lightburn, and other distinguished individuals who came together to celebrate this inspiring occasion.
During the event, Mr. Song Lei, Chairman of the China-Africa Development Fund, and Guo Li, Director of the South-South Industrial Cooperation Centre of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UCSSIC China), delivered powerful speeches. Notably, teachers and student representatives from local community schools graced the occasion, adding to the atmosphere of hope and positivity.
Amid South Africa’s energy crisis, where the nation faces rolling blackouts due to load shedding, Hisense SA, a joint venture supported by the China-Africa Development Fund and Hisense Group, took proactive steps to fulfill its social responsibility. They generously donated 800 sets of solar table lamps to students in schools surrounding Atlantis, aligning with their commitment to uplifting the community where their factory is located.
The recipients of this kind gesture were Grade 11 and 12 students, who are currently navigating important career decisions. Inviting them to receive these solar lamps and providing them with an opportunity to explore a factory tour served as a source of excitement and inspiration. It broadened their horizons and illuminated the possibilities that lie ahead.
Simultaneously, the Mozambique Wanbao Agricultural Park, an investment made by the China-Africa Development Fund, contributed to the cause by donating a batch of locally grown, high-quality rice to the students. This contribution aims to enhance the nutritional diet of local teenagers by increasing their intake of high-quality protein.
The collaborative efforts of CADFund, Hisense Group, and Mozambique Wanbao Agricultural Park exemplify the power of hope and the potential for transformative change. By shining a light on the lives of these children in South Africa, they are sowing the seeds of optimism and instilling a belief in a brighter future.
Through acts of kindness and generosity, this event has ignited a beacon of hope that resonates with the entire community. It serves as a reminder that, despite challenges, the spirit of cooperation and compassion can create a ripple effect of positive change, fostering a sense of hope that transcends borders and inspires us all.
