These 5 South African hotels have been ranked among the best in the world

Travel + Leisure magazine has ranked the top 100 hotels in the world in 2017, listing five South African hotels among the world’s best.
The rankings are based on user reviews and surveys among Travel + Leisure’s reader base.
The magazine asks readers to share their opinions on the top hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and more.
Hotels were rated on their facilities, location, service, food, and overall value. Hotels were classified as city or resort, based on their locations and amenities.
In 2017, Travel + Leisure readers voted Nihi Sumba Island in Indonesia as the top hotel destination in the world.
In sixth place is South Africa’s Tswalu Kalahari Reserve, which is the highest ranked safari destination in the world.
According to T+L, 17 of the top 100 hotels were located in urban areas, speaking to travellers’ desires to venture into the ‘great outdoors’. Hotel destinations were spread across the globe, but the US proved to be a popular destination country, with 27 of the top 100 hotels found there.
