The Dynamic Building of the Future

Today was an exciting day – for me personally, for UTC Climate, Controls & Security and for our 55,000 employees around the world. Today – exactly 23 months after breaking ground – we officially opened the new UTC Center for Intelligent Buildings.

More than a new world headquarters, this building is the embodiment of our collective commitment to customer-centricity. It was designed specifically to host customers and “reveal the unseen.”

Building technologies that are critical to efficient, comfortable, productive, safe and secure environments are typically hidden away in basements, closets and rooftops. Not here. At the UTC Center for Intelligent Buildings, they are not only openly displayed, but they are also celebrated.

The customer experience starts by highlighting working products that some have maybe never seen before. It then shows how we can integrate them with other UTC offerings to deliver connected, intelligent solutions. It does all of this through a variety of displays utilizing augmented reality, digital technologies and other interactive elements designed to engage and inform.

In this way, the UTC Center for Intelligent Buildings is a living showcase illustrating what’s possible when our technologies are implemented intelligently… and integrated to increase efficiency, protect people and property, and enhance the occupant experience.

Every single product seen is actively serving the building – keeping the hundreds of employees who work there comfortable and productive, and offering our customers a fresh perspective on building technology. There’s even a custom employee mobile app that enables access to the building, temperature and lighting control, and wayfinding capabilities.

That is the experience we’ve created for our thousands of global customers and employees who will visit the building this year and in years to come. While the technologies will change as we continue to innovate new solutions, the premise of the UTC Center for Intelligent Buildings will remain the same – revealing the unseen to show how United Technologies is Building Possible. In other words: anticipating what the world will look like 20 years from now and help solve our customers’ problems well into the future.
