Thick Queens presents summer fashion show at Graceland in Secunda
“We are also creating a platform for the local designers to sell their work and for our models to express themselves.”
Thick Queens held its summer fashion show at Graceland arena on Saturday, November 6.
Fans were entertained with different fashion lines.
The plus-size models showcased the latest summer collections and the audience was also entertained by Miss North West, Ms faith Nonyane, eMbalenhle comedian Blackberry, TeemBee, Mdavovo and Jess.
Mr Nicholas Mashiane, the founder of the Thick Queens, said his purpose is to kill the stigma that modelling is only for skinny people and not bigger women.
“This year’s show was even better than the previous shows because we have sponsors and designers from local and other provinces, we also gave more local artists a platform to showcase their talent.
“We are also creating a platform for the local designers to sell their work and for our models to express themselves.”
Mr Mashiane said the Thick Queens shows are designed for each season and also to share ideas of what people should wear this summer because different clothes are needed for each season.
“Our fashion shows target designers who wish to become large brands, by showcasing their work to a large audience.
“These designers are introduced to new buyers, and their product can go far because many designers rise to fame solemnly through fashion shows,” said Mr Mashiane.
He thanked the sponsors, artists, audience and designers for supporting the Thick Queens Summer Fashion Show 2021.
Mr Mashiane said plus-size women who want to be part of the Thick Queens must follow their Facebook page to get information about auditions.
