Mudau and Joubert win Secunda’s Kosmos 3-in-1
This Comrades qualifier consists of three races, namely a 42,2km race in the morning, a 21,1km race at lunchtime and a 10km in the late afternoon.
Ntakuseni Mudau is the overall winner of the 2023 Kosmos 3-in-1, with Secunda athlete Helena Joubert as the overal women’s winner.
Runners competed in the annual Kosmos 3-in-1 race consisting of 42.2km, 21.1km and 10km run, on Saturday, March 11.
Runners took off from Lake Umuzi and followed the blue line marked route around Secunda. Given Baloyi finished in first place in the 42.2km race with a time of 02:24:46.
He was followed by second place by Gordon Lesetedi with a time of 02:31:28 and Ntakuseni Mudau with a time of 02:32:14 in third place.
Helena Joubert was the first woman to finish the 42.2km race with a time of 02:56:13.
In second place was Natasha Malan with a time of 03:16:10 and in third place was Siningi Ndlovu with a time of 03:16:57.
In the 21.1km run, Samuel Mathabatha finished first with a time of 01:11:03.
In second place was Msawenkosi Buthelezi with a time of 01:13:29 and third place was Tumisho Magakwe at 01:14:12.
Michelle Parkes was the first woman to cross the 21.1km finish line with a time of 01:33:28.
She was followed by second place Fransune Du Toit with a time of 01:35:53 and third place Helena Joubert with a time of 01:41:19.
