Local lad on track to nationals

STANDERTON – A 15-year-old grade 9 pupil of Leseli Combined School in Sakhile is the pride of the School and Lekwa Municipality. Thabang Selepe is destined to participate in the national athletics championship which will take place later this year. Thabang received a bronze medal after competing in district and provincial championships in the 400 m, 800 m, and 1500 m events.

The highlight of his success came when he took silver in the provincial 1 500 m event held in February. This made him qualify for The Nationals. The young man proudly said that he is ready to challenge the best. Mr SS Rasetlola, the team manager and trainer, said that he has full confidence in the young man and that he will do them proud. He stated that Thabang is in good shape physically and mentally and based on his last performance, he has shown a lot of character and determination.
