SAPS speak on crime to Dra Mekaar in Secunda

It was an informative meeting for Dra Mekaar members who got together at the NG Kerk Goedehoop-gemeente on February 7.
Ben Moolman opened the meeting with a scripture and prayer and then handed it over to the man and woman in blue.

Warrant Officer Oosie Oosthuizen and Captain Newstar Twala spoke about banking and SMS fraud, online scams, and the basics of safeguarding oneself and one’s belongings when faced with a criminal.

“Fraud cases are spiking, and our elderly people are becoming more of a target,” said Oosthuizen.

She warned members not to divulge their personal and banking details to avoid falling prey to the criminals.
