Breedtnek Mountain Bike Trail

Description

The mountain bike trail of Breedtsnek is a dirt road set in the pretty Magaliesberg countryside and takes one over the mountains of Rustenburg and Hartbeespoort. Breedtsnek – Hekpoort MTB starts and finishes at the petrol station found at Hekpoort and offers a 50-70 km distance ride. On your ride you come across steep switchbacks and views of the Buffelspoort dam as well as the Hartbeespoort dam.

50 km – 70 km: Start and finish at the Hekpoort Petrol Station

10 km: Start at Sugarbush Hill Cottages

End

This is a circular route and will bring you back to your parking spot.

Important points to remember about this route:

  • Th Automobile Association’s (AA) Magaliesberg map can help to plan your ride options
  • Dirt roads
  • The Breedtnek route is on a public road – so be aware of vehicles traveling the same road.
  • Because of lack of guarantee of the safety of your vehicle at the petrol station, you could extend your ride from Sugarbush Hill Cottages.
  • Popular route for when training for the likes of the Magalies Monster etc.
  • Start earlier in summer than winter (around 6:00 against 7:00) as it can get very hot on the road.
