Miss North West
Rustenburg – Our very own Civic Centre will be the centre stage for the all the glitz and glamour of a Hollywood premier as 20 gorgeous ladies battle it out on the 23rd of August to determine the Next Miss North-West. The gala-event is merely the pinnacle of a long journey for some of these girls who had to prove they’ve got what it takes over the last few months.
Among the hopefuls are few ladies from Rustenburg, among them, Goitseona Selogilwe from the small rural village of Kanana…
Goitseona’s friends call her Prisca and she is no stranger to the lime-light; she entered Miss Res 2008 at the TUT on a dare, and won. Goitse went on to claim the title of crowd favourite and in 2010 she won Miss Mamelodi. In 2011, after completing her studies, she came back to Rustenburg and claimed the Miss Rustenburg 2011 Crown as her own.
During her year as Miss Rustenburg, her duties included public speaking and appearances as well as a lot of charity work and motivational classes.
“It was a great opportunity to give back to the community and help those less fortunate, while at the same time rubbing elbows with the rich and powerful,” she told the Platinum Weekly. “It afforded me the chance to help draw the attention of those who have to those who need.”
Prisca has a wonderfully warm personality and it’s easy to see why she would be voted as crowd favourite.
“I hope a girl from Rustenburg wins,” she said when asked as to who were her favourite for this prestigious award, but with a nice smile and witty comments like; “Kanana village: born bread and peanut buttered,”… she’s definitely one of our favourites too.
