About Us | Wildife Centre

Caring for orphaned and injured wildlife is both a time consuming and specialized field. Rehabilitation of some animals may take months or even years as many need to be placed in family groups. Others may take a long time to recover from injuries. Therefore special facilities are required in order to accommodate them and their specific needs .

The Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, which is known to most as “Wild for Life”, was opened to help injured and displaced animals in the North West Province. However, word has travelled fast, and we are even receiving animals from areas outside of our own province.

Our duty is to treat, rehabilitate and release indigenous wildlife, while at the same time, create a greater awareness of conservation within our community and particularly, within our schools. We provide education programs for schools, farm workers, and the general public.

We are fortunate to have a network of skilled people with whom we interact, many of  whom are specialists within their field of expertise. Together, we apply the conservation principles to protect our natural biodiversity.

We provide education programs for schools, farm workers, and the general public.

Our Purpose

The Rustenburg Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre was established in 2005 to help the indigenous wildlife displaced by construction and building in the Rustenburg area. What started out as a hobby has now turned into a full rehabilitation centre where we treat, rehabilitate and relocate birds of prey, jackal, genets, caracal and other wildlife.

The purpose of the facility is therefore to treat and rehabilitate our indigenous animals and protect them by increasing awareness by means of education.
