Step by step Beautiful Bridal Make-up
The appearance of your make-up on your big day should be flawless. Whether you opt to do it yourself or use the services of a professional, ensure that the products used are trusted and will have the lasting effect to create a picture perfect look and keep you looking at your best until the end of the evening.
We asked a professional make-up artist to give us a view pointers regarding wedding make-up.
Step 1
To ensure that your skin looks radiant it is important to develop and maintain good beauty and skincare habits. Support beautiful skin by improving your lifestyle. Eat healthy, exercise, hydrate skin by drinking lots of water, stop smoking and relax.
Step 2
Choose a foundation that matches your skin type and colour. The colour can be tested on your chin or chest. Rather choose a slightly darker shade than a too light shade.
Step 3
Use a bronze powder to form the cheekbones and jawline. Also add some bronzer on parts of the nose that you would like to appear smaller. Use a light colour powder underneath the eyes and on the eyelid. Also add a small amount of the powder in the middle of the forehead, nose and chin and on the cheekbone just above the bronzing powder that was applied. The colour of the powder should match the undertone of your skin.
Step 4
The eyebrows are very important and with proper care and make-up can highlight the picture perfect face required on your big day. Make sure that your eyebrows were shaped and tinted a few days in advance to the wedding day. Eyebrows should end and start in the correct place and the best way to determine this is to hold a pencil from your nose to the outside corner of your eye. The eyebrow should end were the pencil ends.
Step 5
Colour the eyebrows with powder using a special fine brush or eyebrow pencil. Don’t be tempted to go too dark and avoid using black.
Step 6
If your skin has a yellow undertone, use a pinkish blusher on your cheeks. For a natural red undertone use a reddish blusher. Apply blusher to the parts of your cheeks that stands up when you smile but not too close to your nose.
Step 7
Use a matt eye shadow as a base across the whole eyelid. To make eyes appear a bit bigger, you can apply a light, shiny eye shadow in the corners of the eyes.
Step 8
Apply a slightly darker eye shadow to the lash line. We suggest a light plum or soft grey.
Step 9
Add a darker eye shadow, brown, grey or blue to the outside corners of your eyelid. Form a triangle with the brush. Blend it with care, there should be no visible lines.
Step 10
Use a dark eyeliner on the whole top lid and on half of the bottom lid. Liquid eyeliner on the top lid will accentuate the eyes and will last. Remember to use products that you are used to, an allergic reaction on your wedding day as red or teary eyes is a definite ‘no’ for a wedding day, a disaster that should be avoided.
Step 11
Apply a few layers of mascara to ensure that it will last. False eyelashes look gorgeous but ensure that it is applied properly and that you don’t have an allergic reaction towards the glue. A better alternative is to have lash extensions done professionally. This is more costly but lasts longer and will not detach easily.
Step 12
Use a lip liner with a neutral colour.
Step 13
Apply lip colour of your choice. We suggest a light pink or light brown.
Step 14
Take a look at the perfect face in the mirror, smile and know that you are beautiful. This is the start of something magical.
