Plan your wedding in Rustenburg – Winter Wedding Expo tips
So you have said “Yes” to the man in your life and now proudly wear the title “fiancée”; only there is more to it than that. You need to organise a wedding! So where do you start?
To help you on your journey towards the big day, I visited the Waterfall Mall’s Winter Wedding Expo in Rustenburg that look place 26 – 31 July 2016 to look at wedding dresses.
I discovered various service providers at the Expo that cover different aspects of a wedding and make mention of them in this article, but this is by no means an exhaustive list of venues and designers, etc. Feel free to research further.
The best place to start planning a wedding is, obviously, in the planning and organising department. All the decisions will flow from there, so best to leave impulsive decisions at home (see Hot Chilli Designs on Facebook).
In a nutshell, decisions needs to be made on the following aspects of the wedding in order of their occurrence:
- the invitations,
- the gift registry,
- the bridesmaids’ dresses,
- the wedding dress,
- the hair and make-up,
- the venue,
- accommodation for friends and family,
- the flowers,
- the table decorations,
- the catering,
- the wedding cake,
- the photo shoot, and
- entertainment.
If you are on the other side of the coin and are attending the wedding, the couple might have a gift registry, but if not, a gorgeous wedding gift is crockery from Le Creuset.
Where to go for your wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses? The fashion show was the highlight of the Winter Wedding Expo and showcased designs from Hot Couture, Bondesio Couture, Couture Esperanza (previously knows as Vivid Creations), which made me want to jump into a lacy dress right then and there. Annemarie from Lady Anne Bridal visited the Expo all the way from Hartbeespoort, and has exquisite wedding dresses from Milan etc. No outfit is complete without hair and make-up. You can try Marianna’s Nails etc.
There is so much more to a wedding than the wedding dress!
So there were designers strutting their stuff, and there were wedding venues such as Protea Hotel Hunters Rest, Kareekloof Game Farm, Elegant Manor and The Royal Marang competing for attention. Now you have your dress and you have your venue, what about table decorations? Divine Opulence rents out wedding décor.
Bread for Africa offers catering, while Cottage Bakery and the delectable Suikerlepeltjie can bake your wedding cake.
For your perfect day you will want a photo shoot and perhaps video coverage. Pula ya Medupe provide a professional all-in-one solution. Tena Loots and Irma Palm are photographers who have been in the photography business for thirteen years to date and are definitely worth looking into.
Last but not least is the wedding party, to me the most important part. So for your wedding entertainment try Direct Productions. Michelle’s School of Dance can help you to master your first dance!
And after the wedding festivities is your big wedding night, but that is a story for another time.
