Autism Workshop held in Rustenburg
If you’ve ever had to work with children or adults with autism, are a parent of a child with autism or just need to know more about Autism, Autism Rustenburg has got answers and help at hand.
On 20 July 2013, the organisation held an Autism Workshop that was hosted to help those who are affected or touched by this to deal with the emotional an sensory issues all children face on an ongoing basis.
Sally Mackenzie, Occupational Therapists, who specializes in sensory integration was part of the workshop. During the workshop she helped teachers and educators as well as parents to know how to explore their children’s feelings and how to adapt and manage their world. It is important to know that they also know what they can do to help the children’s sensory system.
During the course attendees also learnt the importance of Emotional Intelligence skills for children. Femida, organizer and founder of Autism Rustenburg, stated that this was useful information; ”few of us knew just how to give children the Emotional Quotient (EQ) skills they really need!”
Pam Tudin, Clinical Psychologist, uncovered the real pragmatic ‘how to’ of building and supporting the children we see in the crucial development of their EQ Skills. She brought to the workshop very manageable and exciting ‘take home’ ways to enhance the life of all children.
As an autism centre we want to bring out more workshops for the parents so that they can better understand their children and have better quality of life .
