Vetmuis Plaaskombuis, Richmond, Karoo, Northern Cape
Vetmuis Plaaskombuis in the hip little town of Richmond in the Karoo, started off serving teas and has evolved into a full blown restaurant, where enjoying the company and conversation around the meal, is as important as the meal itself. The restaurant now serves hearty Karoo meals and has expanded. It has moved to a National Heritage Building, a typical Karoo dwelling with thick walls and yellow wood floors registered in 1847 at number 56 Loop Street.
The focus of Kobie’s menu is to cook “Kontrei kos”, which is in season and can be prepared fresh when ordered. Her team consists of Monica Douglas, the assistant who does much of the baking, and who is currently the owner of her own bakery on the premises and Simon “Lookie” Renoster, the kitchen assistant, who can also cook very well.
The second partner is Anita, who is the “ behind the scene choreographer”. She keeps things running smoothly in the restaurant. And she does the grilling of good steaks and Karoo Lamb chops!

There is accommodation available. The self- catering unit sleeps 6, one double bed, two rooms with two single beds each and a bathroom and kitchen. Braai facilities are available. The cost for the unit per night is from R350.00
