Houw Hoek Farm Stall, Elgin, Cape Overberg
Houw Hoek Farm Stall has the warm architecture of the Cape to offset the beautiful patch of ancient oak trees, and this just adds to what you will find inside – homemade pies, quiches, biscuits and cakes; freshly baked bread, preserves, pastas, cheeses, local wines and baskets filled with fruit and vegetables fresh from the farms in the Elgin Valley. No need to go home empty handed!
Houw Hoek is an ideal stop for tea or lunch, where you will enjoy an excellent meal in the tranquil setting.
Set under shady trees are three dams well stocked with Rainbow trout and Houw Hoek is set up for you to try the art of fly fishing. Fly and normal rods can be hired. Picnic baskets are also prepared for a relaxed day in the country.
Houw Hoek Farm Stall is on the right hand side of the national road (N2) that leads you from Cape Town to the Overberg, just before the famous Houw Hoek pass leads you down the mountains. Not far from Houw Hoek, is Duncan’s Roses, sign-boarded off the N2, also on the right. If you are a rose fan, a visit to Duncan’s will be a wonderful experience.
