COURSE TITLE: Basic First Aid

UNIT STANDARD: DOL

SHORT DESCRIPTION: The purpose of this course is to perform basic first aid in the workplace. The contents of course are the same as First Aid Level 1 but the duration of the course is shorter than level 1.

COURSE CONTENTS:

1. Understand the laws of first aid;

2. Providing cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR);

3. Signs, symptoms and treatment of shock;

4. Signs, symptoms and treatment of severe bleeding;

5. Signs, symptoms and treatment of different types of fractures;

6. Signs, symptoms and treatment of unconsciousness;

7. Signs, symptoms and treatment of burn wounds;

8. Signs, symptoms and treatment of back and neck injuries.
