COURSE TITLE: Health and Safety Induction

UNIT STANDARD:

SHORT DESCRIPTION: This course is designed to inform employees about health and safety in the workplace and equip them to be able to identify hazards and their responsibility according to legislation.

COURSE CONTENTS:

1. Introduction to Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993;

2. Duties and responsibilities of the employees;

3. Incident reporting procedures;

4. Introduction to fire prevention, protection and evacuation;

5. General housekeeping;

6. Do's and Don'ts of health and safety;

7. Hazard identification in the work place;

8. Reporting of unsafe acts and conditions.
