From leopards and cheetahs to monkeys and dassies, there are loads of wildlife attractions in Pretoria where you can get up close to your favourite animals.

Moreletakloof Nature Reserve

Moreletakloof Nature ReserveThe approximate 100 hectare reserve is home to various small game species including Springbuck, Zebra, Blesbok, Impala, Duiker, Bushbuck and Ostrich and abundant birdlife.

Hours:  Daily from 06:00 to 18:00.

Groenkloof Nature Reserve

Groenkloof Nature ReserveThe wildlife on the reserve includes zebra, jackal, duiker, kudu, impala, blue wildebeest, blesbuck, red hartebeest, ostrich, giraffe and sable.

Hours: September to April from 05h30 to 19h00, and May to August from 07h00 to 18h00.

Somabula Nature Reserve

Somabula Nature Reserve

400 hectares of indigenous trees, excellent birding and a large variety of antelope as well as giraffe, zebra, springbok and wildebeest.

Smaller animals, interesting insects and reptiles can also be viewed.

The Farm Inn Country Hotel & Wildlife SanctuaryGuests at The Farm Inn can enjoy the magic of a wildlife sanctuary with 23 indigenous species, including lion, leopard and cheetah.

Many of these species can be viewed by going on a game drive with one of the hotel’s experienced game rangers.

The National Zoological Gardens of South Africa

The National Zoological Gardens of South AfricaThe National Zoological Gardens of South Africa is the largest zoo in the country and houses 209 mammal species, 202 bird species, fish species and 93 reptile species.

Wonderboom Nature Reserve

Wonderboom Nature ReserveThe reserve, which is open seven days a week, offers visitors barbecue facilities and ablution blocks, a children’s park, walking trails, a man-made waterfall and abundant bird life. The reserve is also the dwelling place of a number of small antelope, monkeys, dassies and an array of birds.

Hours: Daily from 07:00 to 18:00.
