The Voortrekker Monument Nature Reserve, Pretoria
The 341 hectares area around The Voortrekker Monument was declared a Nature Reserve by Mr. Danie Hough, Administrator of the Transvaal, announced on 14 July 1992.
Offering the most spectacular views of Pretoria the Voortrekker Monument Nature reserve offers a wide variety of fauna and flora and many outdoor activities.

Wildlife
Game that can be seen by visitors include: Burchell’s Zebra, Bles Buck, Mountain Reedbuck, Springbuck, Impala, Black wildebeest, Red Hartbeest, Bush buck. Smaller mammals such as white and black-tailed mongoose, small spotted genet, rock hyrax, scrub hare, cane rats, hedgehogs and porcupines are endemic and common.
Please Note:
No pets are allowed on the site but guide dogs are welcome. Only persons with a valid drivers’ licence may drive in the reserve. The speed limit on all roads is 30 km per hour.
