Groenkloof Hiking Trails, Pretoria

Description

Situated in an urban environment the Groenkloof Nature Reserve offers hikers a surprisingly natural atmosphere. There are various trails to choose from that differ in difficulty. Rocky hills can be expected as part of the yellow trail and recommended for the more fit and experienced hiker. Leading towards the top of the hill the yellow trail offers glorious views towards the Voortrekker Monument, Waterkloof golf course, the Unisa campus, the city’s CBD, and Fort Klapperkop.

Along the red and white shorter trails, hikers pass a cave home to the rock hyrax and the boma where game are kept under observation and where the sable antelope are fed. In short this is a self-guided network of circular walks that features a few semi-steep ridges.
