African Window Cultural History Museum, Pretoria (Tshwane)
The African Window Cultural History Museum on Visagie Street in Pretoria CBD explores South Africa’s cultural diversity by showcasing on-going permanent and temporary exhibitions.
One of eight national museums under Ditsong: Museums of South Africa, the African Window Cultural History Museum displays rock art, thousand year old Iron Age figurines that could have been used for rituals in the early iron ages.
The African Window museum is one of the largest Museums in South Africa that has collected over three million items such as textiles, furniture, art, clothing that are from different cultural groups.
The Museum offers pre-booked educational tours during working hours which incorporate history, geography, arts and culture, technology and life orientation. In addition, the museum has a restaurant, African Window curio shop that sells African art and conference facilities.
