How to Show that you Care
There are many ways to give a little back to the community, and there is no better time to show your love during the holiday’s.
Here are some ideas you can do to help those who need it most.
- You can give the gift of sound to a child by becoming a donor or grant maker at the Whispers Speech & Hearing Centre.
- The centre brings hope to deaf children who after identification of their hearing disability enter the Auditory Oral Program and learn to talk. Speech and language development is a continuous process. We do not use any sign language, we teach deaf children to speak. They can eventually enter mainstream education and go to school along with their peer.
- Share your time with the animals of Pretoria and visit the SPCA. Spend time with the animals, help with events and fundraisers, wash some of their blankets and support the needs as listed on their website.
- If you prefer to contribute behind the scenes, SMS “Donation” to 31400 and choose to donate R10 per month, R15 per month, R25 per month or R50 per month for the Jacaranda & Louis Botha Children’s Home.
- The Jakaranda and Louis Botha Children’s Homes look after the welfare of abused children that was removed from their parents by the South African children’s court. Primarily focused on providing the children with clothing, housing, schooling, food, security and stability, the homes also provide the necessary therapy, life skills and emotional support.
- Support CHOC in their mission to help children with cancer and life-threatening blood disorders and their families.
- CHOC does not receive funding from government but rely heavily on donations from caring corporates, individuals and parents of children with cancer. All funds raised are used to provide all-encompassing support – from direct practical help to the children and their families and those involved in the treatment – to necessary equipment.
- Create burn awareness to the public together with the Hero Burn Foundation, and support burn survivors.
- All Burn Survivors are Heroes-battling through their own difficult emotional and physical daily struggle.. that few others in society can ever understand. Burn victims are easily shunned by others due to their physical appearance, and not given the opportunities or support they so desperately need and deserve.
- Lead the future of the youth of South Africa and give the gift of development and academic excellence together with LEAP Science & Maths Schools.
- Provide a safe home environment for every child in Tshwane by becoming a sponsor for the Child Welfare Tshwane.
- Focus your energy with The Potato Foundation on the neglected and forgotten children of our society to help them get back on their feet.
- Giving is very much like a potato – its roots are hidden and the growing effect thereof is not visible until the potato is harvested. The Potato Foundation aims to be exactly that – the roots within our community sustaining and nurturing assistance to uplift and empower children and give them an opportunity to take their rightful place within society.
- Aim to provide safe and loving Christian environments for the children in Pretoria and help Amadea Safe House to develop these kids into well balanced adults.
- Become part of Peas in a Pod help with the restorative work that they do with girls, who have been abused and missed out on an education on account of the abuse they suffered.
- Our main focus is restorative work with girls who have been abused and have missed out on an education on account of the abuse they suffered. We do home schooling with the girls to catch up on their enormous academic backlog. We have 2 fundraising events per year, a golf day and a travel auction. The children we take care of are brought to us by the SAPS. The girls are all victims of abuse in all its many colours This house specializes in the care of sexually abused victims. We are the only safe house in Pretoria specialising in this.
