The Jakaranda and Louis Botha Children’s Homes look after the welfare of abused children that was removed from their parents by the South African children’s court.
Primarily focused on providing the children with clothing, housing, schooling, food, security and stability, the homes also provide the necessary therapy, life skills and emotional support.
Jakaranda’s Children Home

A non-profit organization opened in East Lynne in Pretoria in 1987, the Jakaranda’s Children Home takes care of abused children parents that was placed in their care by the South African children’s court due to abandonment, neglect, emotional and physical abuse.
Children are aged between 3 – 18 years, they have 20 homes at the Jakaranda Kinderhuis and 9 homes at Louis Botha Kinderhuis. Each of these homes have a houseparent who takes care of between 10 – 12 children in her / his home 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Social Worker Programmes and Activities at the home focus on developmental groups with a therapeutic undertone, and includes Sport groups, an art group, story time, puppet shows, horse therapy, Beyond Beauty modelling and finishing school, a safety group , cycling classes, guitar group, running group, yoga and self-defence.
Louis Botha Children’s Home

The Louis Botha Children’s Home has 9 homes. Each of these homes have a houseparent who takes care of between 10 – 12 children in her / his home 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The children are divided into groups of 12; each group living in separate houses under the supervision of house parents.
Situated in Queenswood, activities offered at the home include sport groups, pottery, horse therapy, rowing, an outreach group and more.
