Water Outage on the Horizon due to Maintenance
Residents across Tshwane should brace for possible large-scale water disruptions as Rand Water conducts a significant two-day maintenance shutdown on its Mapleton and Palmiet systems.

The shutdown is scheduled to run from 04:00 on 13 December to 04:00 on 15 December and is expected to impact numerous reservoirs and meters supplying major portions of the metro.
According to Tshwane spokesperson Lindela Mashigo, the City has received formal notice from Rand Water detailing the essential infrastructure repairs. He noted that the shutdown will have a far-reaching effect, with many suburbs likely to experience low pressure or a complete interruption of supply. Mashigo also cautioned that residents in areas not listed may still be affected.
Suburbs expected to be affected include:
- Mapleton System
- Alphenpark
- Erasmusrand
- Garsfontein 374-JR
- Groenkloof 358-JR
