Tshwane Prepares to Provide Hammanskraal with Clean Water
The Tshwane Metro is set to deliver clean, potable piped water to Hammanskraal residents, starting next month. The supply will roll out in four phases, following an audit of the area’s water meters. According to metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo, 37,000 meters were inspected, revealing 14,000 faulty meters. The metro is currently replacing these at no cost to residents. This phased approach is based on careful planning and infrastructure development, with the water supply expected to be fully functional by the end of the month.
The four phases will be implemented as follows:
- The first phase will receive water from October 2024
- Second phase from February 2025
- Third phase from April 2025
- Fourth phase from June 2025
He said another worthy note is the scouring of the network by the water distribution team based in Region 2.
“This is an ongoing function that enables the removal of sediments in the pipelines and for the maintenance teams to effect any repair work that is needed.
