Tshwane Police Arrest 551 Suspects in Major Sweep-Up
In a concerted effort to curb crime in Tshwane, local police, Home Affairs officials, and Community Policing Forums (CPFs) joined forces over the weekend. The extensive operation led to the arrest of 551 suspects for a range of offenses throughout the city.
The initiative was spearheaded by district commissioner Brigadier Moses Dladla, who coordinated with Home Affairs, Tshwane metro police, and CPFs from various stations. Their combined efforts aimed to target crime hotspots, ensure compliance with regulations, and raid illegal liquor outlets.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk reported that the operations were highly effective, resulting in 237 arrests for offenses including assault, housebreaking, public drinking, driving under the influence, and armed robbery. This significant crackdown underscores the commitment of Tshwane law enforcement to maintaining public safety and order.
