Three local lads chosen for big PSL teams’ trials
Two New Brighton Academy players and a Roaring Tigers player were selected by three Professional Soccer League big teams when they played for the Nedbank Ke Yona team in a losing 2-1 effort against Nedbank Cup winners, TS Galaxy FC, in KwaNdebele last month.
New Brighton Academy defender, Khanyiso Gingxa, and goalkeeper, Sive Gqezengele, were scouted to take part in trials at Supersport United and Kaizer Chiefs respectively, while Roaring Tigers striker, Enoch Puzi, was scouted to compete against Cape Town City FC.
Gingxa (23), from KwaZakhele, stated he worked very hard to be in the last 18 players that were selected in Pretoria.
“I am so excited to be associated with Supersport United because it has a bunch of experienced players who will help me realise my dreams.”
Puzi, who is known as Benni, said that he would take part in trials in Cape Town City after the scouts followed him from practices to the games of Ke Yona. “I would like to make an impact for the citizens.
“I am going to work very hard for (Cape Town City coach) Benni McCarthy, as he was my role model when he was a player. I deserve to play in the top-flight football because I am goal poacher. I would like to urge the youngsters to be serious in sport and education so that they can achieve their dreams. They must do away with crime and trivial matters,” Puzi said.
