South Africa’s emerging Davis Cup team faced a tough challenge this past weekend in Groenkloof, Pretoria, as they were defeated 1-4 by Morocco at Tennis Gauteng North’s headquarters. Despite their determination, the team’s inexperience showed, and the loss keeps South Africa in World Group II.
Captain Pietie Norval will now shift focus to the crucial play-off tie in February next year, where the team will battle to avoid relegation. The opponent for that tie will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
